-1 > Impossible to see all sentences from other players while playing game. -1 > I think UI should point to "general" by default, and not offering "play" option (where you cant see active game), thats confusing and not useful. People should connect, and then go to « restaurant » (maybe review name) and then see other options. UI should be the same than iPad game also. Thats not the case.
Ticket To Ride is a fun game thats easy to learn and challenging for all ages. A definite must for anyone whos played the board game, or the iPhone/iPad versions. Hopefully, more of the boards will make it to in app purchases as well. Thank you Days Of Wonder!
The game itself is one of my favourite games. But the execution here is simply amazing. This is one of the first mac games I have played that was not a horrible rushed port with massive slowdowns. This game runs smoothly on my laptop and desktop wiithout any hiccups. If Only other developers actually put this much effort into makeing their games work!
I love the board game, and the iPhone & ipad versions, however the mac version seems to have some glitches. I have routes that I simply annot claim. They are not selectable. This seems to be a problem only on the Europe & Switzerland map. If this is fixed, its easy a 5 star game.
good game, i have the pocket version on my iPod and it works wonderfully. But in this one it was working fine at first but now it wont let me claim certain routes, which is a huge piss off. If this is fixed with an update it would be AMAZING!!
Great game and great support response time. There was quite a bad bug for Mountian Lion but it was quickly addressed in Ticket to Ride 1.01. The game is great and runs well and there are lots of people in online play to play against. The tutorial teaches you the simple rules of this game painlessly and quickly. The gameplay interface is beautiful and well laid out. I have the iPhone version of this game as well and both are fantastic. Fast, fun, addictive, and great to play with friends because its so fast to learn.
This app has stopped adding new expansions. Now, even though I bought the expansions for this app, I’m going to have to rebuy all the ones I bought (i.e., all of them), because the rest of the expansions aren’t supported. And this after I already bought Ticket to Ride for multiple devices. Money grubbing much? Also, part of the game board is frequently covered by cards and/or notifications about play. ENDLESSLY ANNOYING. Plus, if you want to be purple and female…sucks to be you. A minimally tolerable incarnation of this fun game.
Well I clicked on Buy for the Asia map, and nothing happens at all. Too bad, because I was also going to buy both Asian maps and the Nordic Countries. Support has yet to respond. Sigh.
I can’t even begin to describe how excited I was to see that map expansions were coming to the TTR desktop version after so many years. (I have played all of the map expansions as board games and have them for iOS handheld devices.) And yet, after applying the update, it was not possible to make the map expansion purchases within the app. I really appreciate all of TTR possibilites that Days of Wonder makes available across so many devices, but I do wish they would do a better job of checking their updates before releasing them through the App Store and iTunes. (There have been similar issues with the iOS versions / updates of TTR, which Days of Wonder has always been fairly quick to resolve. I’m hoping for the same in this case.)
TTR did an update without asking and cleared out all of my hight scores. I had to hit the Restore Purchases to get most of the other maps that I bought over time. Checking to see if I am missing some maps. The iOS gave me a free enhancements (1912, Big Cites, etc.) for buying Europe, Switzerland, Scandinavia and Asia. Might be missing the Switzerland map. The update does appear to be better, but seems to play a more agressive or sort of screw you type of game now, which is more challenging. You decide. Prior Review (5 stars This is my first time playing Ticket to Ride and it is a great game. I downloaded the rules, played thru the game tutorial, and went online to find out more about the (30) ticket destinations. I have only played the solo three person game (2 to 5 total players in solo mode) about 100 times. Each player gets 45 trains of a unique color (blue, green, red, yellow or black) and are dealt (3) destination tickets, and you must keep al least two, or all three. You can later ask for more tickets, then you keep one to three tickets. It is best to keep routes that are close to each other, or can connect together for the 10 point longest train bonus. You can put down train lengths that match the connecting cities on the U.S.A. board if you have the matching train color cards, grey routes are open to any color. You receive points as follows 1=1 pt; 2=2 pts; 3=4 pts; 4=7 pts; 5=10 pts; 6=15 pts. If you connect the two cities on your destination ticket you receive those points at the end of the game, if you couldn’t you get minus points instead. Their point value is about equal to the number of tracks needed to make the connection. Each player also gets four train cards to start. There are (12) each in eight colors (pink, white, blue, yellow, orange, black, green and red) and (14) of the colorful wild card locomotives. On your turn you may do only one of three actions. (1) Draw exactly two train cards from one or both of the five face up cards or the face down draw pile. If you decide to take one of the face up wild card locomotives then you may not take another card. When a card is taken it is immediately replaced from the draw pile. If three locomotives are face up, then all five cards are replaced until the situation is resolved. Drawing a locomotive from the face down draw pile still allows you to get two cards. (2) Claim a route by turning in train cards/wild cards matching the color of the desired route. Grey routes are open to any color. Don’t mix up the lighter grey with the black routes. (3) Draw three destination tickets, you must keep at least one, returing any undesired cards to the bottom of the deck. You make keep all three. Sometimes your choice can be three routes you cannot connect, so keep the one with the lowest point bonus because this will be a negative count against your score. Negative destination cards seem to happen to all players. But sometimes you can get one or two routes that you have already completed or only need one or two short connections, so it is worth the gamble. The game keeps track of which tickets you have completed and which still need some work. It shows how many trains everyone has left, and how many ticket destination cards that each opponent holds and number of train cards with 8+ when more than eight. When one player places a route that leaves them with two or less trains, than everyone gets one more turn including that player. Remeber you must have enough trains remaining to place a route. It will let you know why you cannot place a route. Then it counts up the scores and awards the 10-pt. longest train bonus. If it is a tie, then each of these players gets 10 pts. The game keeps track of your top (50) winning games scores. The computer opponets scores isn’t recorded. I have won with as little as 66 points and with as many as 178 points. The lower scores usually happen when their is competition for routes and players get more negative incomplete route counts.
Finally, a quality Mac release of this brilliant game. Version 2.2.5 resolves all of the longstanding bugs and introduces both new maps and significant enhancements to online play. Highly recommended!
If you’re a fan of the board game, you’ll love the app! The UI is very nice and allows you to play quickly and easily. Online works well and I never have trouble finding the game. It’s a great way for my friends and I to keep playing even though we moved around for college.
I haven’t played the game for a while but I know I have made a purchase within the game which does not get restored anymore. It requires me to sign in to my apple id but then it does nothing to restore it. I still love the game, sure but it doesn’t feel too goot to be cheated like this
Glad they didn’t abandon the Mac version. I have the board game, iOS app and now the Mac app!!! Toot Toot!!
I’ve owned Ticket to Ride for Mac for a couple years now. In summer 2016 they released a new version, which I downloaded, and it cost me all my boards, which I had to rebuy. Then I had to download each board a couple times. But I soldiered on. Now I’ve been playing the new version for several months and it’s boring as hell. In the old version the AIs would attempt to complete tickets as a strategy to winning. Now all the AIs do is score as many points as possible by taking long routes. In the new version I choose two route cards and then randomly lay down tracks for points. I have to make certain I have one of the big routes if I want to win. So there’s no more strategy, or determining the most efficient routes, and if you get Longest Route that’s purely by happenstance. I wish I could go back to the earlier version. Or that there was an option to toggle the AIs between ticket strategy and point accrual strategy. Or that I could get my money back. I got an iPad specifically so I could play this game and now it’s not worth playing at all.
The new version kept crashing so I tried to delete and get again and now it doesn’t respond AT ALL. I can only play it on my TV via Fire Stick, which is sooo slow
Love this game. Really enjoy the full screen and resolution. Thank you.
Guys, youre great, but where are German, Asias expentions and so on? P.S. On my iMac 27" at 2560 x 1440 zoom option works wierd.
Just as beautifully executed as the matching iPad edition: beautiful to watch and to hear, converted from board to video game in an easy and comprehensible manner, the best tutorial Ive seen in years, smooth online play. The high mark other games should aspire to. With all the upgrades, its about $15 total and its well worth that price.
