Ticket to Ride App Reviews

well done Days of Wonder

Ive had the boardgame and expansions for years as well as the various PC and iPad implementations of this game, all are fun to play. This new Mac version has a few qwerks to work out regarding limiting legal moves that Im sure will be addressed with future upgrades.

A flawed implementation of a wonderful game.

As a fan of the Ticket to Ride board game and iPhone game, I was very excited by the release of a Mac version. Overall this rendition is nicely polished and Ive been ejoying playing it, but there are a few things which drive me nuts. First off, the sound effects are intrusive and annoying-- fortunately it doesnt take long to find the settings screen to turn down the sound effects and silence the horrible, horrible conductor. More frustrating is the short idle timeout when playing network games. My girlfriend and I were disconnected several times while playing and dealing with lifes interruptions. A tight timer makes sense for games between strangers but gets in the way in games between friends. In this the iOS version of Carcassonne is the gold standard. I urge the folks at Days of Wonder (and anyone else bringing a board game to the computer) to study Carcassonne closely and follow its lead. Were the publisher to fix these two flaws, Ticket to Ride would be a five-star game, hands-down.

Help us lefties!

The iPad version had an option for left-handed players, This one doesnt; please add it.

Simple Strategy Game, but quite Addicting

I dont usually spend more than $5.00 on games at the Appstore. I read the reviews on this one and decided to give it a try. Ive been playing it for the past 5 hours straight. It is a simple game no fancy motion graphics or complex algorithms. Maybe thats what makes it so fun. I give it 5 stars for sure.

Its really fun!

I bought this game without knowing anything about it other than itll be online and you could play with other people. I like a lot of puzzle and interactive games so I was pretty excited to play and it hasnt disappointed me! I feel that $10 is a bit high for the game. I think it should have been $7 because each of the additional maps are each like $2 or $3 each. Otherwise, its quite wonderful.

Impossible to find button to restore purchases

I bought the add-on maps, however there is no "easy" way to restore the purchases.

Brilliant!

I didnt even know the rule of the game, but now, I am very in to it. It is not only easy, but also unbelievably well-made and the online vergion is very amusing too.

Love the game but this is a glitcchy app.

My first game I ran into a glitch that prevented me from being able to play this high dollar app.

Why Lion or better for extras?

I love the game, but as someone who has chosen to not get Lion it irritates me that I cant get any of the expansions. Im not sure why the basic game works just fine with Snow Leopard, but the add ons require Lion.

Beautiful Port of a Wonderful Boardgame

We play T2R often during family game nights, and this version is an excellent and beautiful rendition of the board game. The game plays smoothly (at times easier than the real thing), and in the long run, buying the various versions of T2R is a lot cheaper, than the board game versions. There are two things that need improving, albeit, not a show-stopper: the chatting system is awkward to read (why not have an automatic return if the message is too long; currently, the font either shrinks to a smaller font, or is plainly truncated); larger board (simply shrink down the extraneous clutter around the board). I wish all computer versions followed Days of Wonders lead.

Not great for a mac

Not worth the price- its a great game, but much better (and less expensive) on the ipad or iphone. Also, I havent found a local playing option, so one cannot play the game with others in the area on other devices. In short- dont buy the for the mac, play it on your ipad/iphone instead.

Mountain Lion Warning!!!

Love this game on ipad and Lion. But Mountain Lion has bugs that dont allow you to play all routes!!! Until its fixed dont buy this and expect to have it work properly

Not useable in Moutain Lion

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion I have been unable to play cards and create trains along certain routes. This should have already been fixed, but I see no indication of an update. So, one star.

Crashes on launch

This game continues to crash at launch in Mountain Lion. Ive contacted support two weeks ago and have yet to hear back. Be prepared to possibly lose your money.

Developer is giving up on this app

I would have given this game 5 stars, but after only a couple of months in the App Store, the developer has announced that due to unspecified disappointment with the apps performance, they are not going to support it with any further downloadable content. They have already released at least one downloadable map for other platforms (iOS, Steam, web) that will not be made available to Mac App Store purchasers.

Amazing game—but now available on Steam

This game is amazing, but the developer has given up on the App Store in favor of availability through Steam. It plays great on the Mac and is a definite must buy. And if youve already bought it on the Mac Store—worry not! Days of Wonder, the creators of Ticket to Ride, will offer you a coupon for the game in Steam for free, along with any add-ons youve purchased. So buy it here then transfer or just get it on Steam, then play. You wont be disappointed in what is the very best of what online board gaming is all about.

Crashes on start. Mountain Lion

Dont waste money. Does not even launch!

No More Support?!

Where is the "Legendary Asia" map?? Steam has it! I regret buying it from App store…. update: They provide a sidegrade to Steam! G Good job! Steam version supports BOTH PC and Mac, anyway.. Will Download Games from Steam from now on.

Online play is frustrating

We own this game on OSX and iPad. It is frustratingly impossible to create a game with friends. If anyone gets disconnected from the game, it inserts a random AI player that is horrible. DO NOT BUY this game expecting to play with people you know. It is a terrible experience.

Great adaptation of the board game!

Super fun to play, either solo, head to head, or online.
